CDCheck v2.x -- Win9x

This terrific utility checks the integrity of a data CD-ROM and reports any errors. This is particularly valuable for checking newly burnt CD-Rs (specially when they are used for file backup) and also for older CDs which have started to deteriorate. CDCheck reports the number of kB checked (against the overall amount of data on the CD), the data transfer rate (maximum, minimum and average), the elapsed time, remaining time and the overall time to check the CD, and the basic statistics -- the number of folders checked, the number of files checked, and the number of files corrupted. You can include multiple drives, set the program to automatically eject the CD on completion (it can also be manually ejected), change the buffer size, etc. The interface is purely functional -- no fancy toolbars or other gloss -- but it really does not require anything more. In its simplicity it is very easy to use and the lack of any real help file does not matter. We were highly impressed with CDCheck and urge everyone with a CD-R burner to have a copy on hand 'just in case'. Access this 263kB download from:
